About Street Fighter Alpha 3

Street Fighter Alpha 3 (1998) is the final and biggest game of the Alpha series. It brings together the largest roster of any 2D Street Fighter of its time – Alpha regulars, Street Fighter II favorites like Cammy, E. Honda and Blanka, Final Fight's Cody, and newcomers like Karin and R. Mika – in a story that leads straight up to Street Fighter II and M. Bison's final plan.

The ism system

Before each match you choose one of three fighting styles:

X-ism – one powerful super, stronger normal attacks, no air blocking. Feels like Super Street Fighter II Turbo.
A-ism – the classic Alpha style, with a three-level super meter and several supers.
V-ism – the "variable" style built around custom combos.

The game also adds a guard meter: block too much and your guard breaks, leaving you open.

Best characters

Ryu and Ken – solid in every ism.
Cammy and Karin – fast and strong in V-ism.
Sagat – long-range control with Tiger Shots.

Tips

Start with A-ism to learn the game; try V-ism once you are comfortable with combos.
Watch your guard meter – if it is low, stop blocking and counterattack or move away.
In V-ism, a custom combo off a jump-in can do massive damage.
