About Captain Commando

Captain Commando (1991) is Capcom's most colorful beat 'em up. It is set in the future – Metro City in the year 2026 – where the hero Captain Commando and his team fight a gang of super-criminals. The game started as Capcom's mascot character (the name is a play on "Capcom Commando") and became one of the best brawlers of the CPS-1 era.

The team

• Captain Commando – the hero, with an energy glove that shoots fire.
• Mack the Knife – a mummy-like alien who fights with knives.
• Ginzu the Ninja – a fast ninja with a sword.
• Baby Head – a genius baby who fights from inside a robot suit.

What makes it special

The cast is wonderfully strange, enemies range from punks to robots and dinosaurs, and you can pilot mechs that punch, shoot and burn through enemies. The original cabinet supports four players at once, making it one of the best party brawlers in the arcade.

Tips

• Jump into mechs whenever you find them – they protect you and hit hard.
• Use dash attacks (tap forward twice, then attack) to break through groups.
• Ginzu and Captain Commando are the easiest characters for beginners.
