About Cadillacs and Dinosaurs

Cadillacs and Dinosaurs (1993) is the most played beat 'em up on our site – and in much of the world it is simply the arcade game everybody remembers. Based on Mark Schultz's comic book Xenozoic Tales, it is set in a future where dinosaurs have returned to Earth. Poachers and a gang of thugs are hunting them, and four heroes step in to stop them.

The heroes

• Jack Tenrec – mechanic and leader, the balanced all-rounder.
• Hannah Dundee – diplomat and explorer, fast with quick combos.
• Mustapha Cairo – engineer with powerful kicks and great speed. In South Asia and the Middle East, players named the whole game "Mustafa".
• Mess O'Bradovich – the slow but strongest brawler.

What makes it special

Cadillacs and Dinosaurs mixes classic Capcom brawling with guns: rifles, Uzis, shotguns and even rocket launchers drop from enemies, each with limited ammo. There is a stage where you drive the Cadillac through enemies, huge dinosaur bosses, and a soundtrack that many players still hum decades later. Up to three players can fight together.

Tips

• Save guns for bosses – the rifle and the Uzi melt health bars.
• Do not punch the dinosaurs when they are calm; they only attack after enemies anger them.
• Use the special attack (attack + jump) when surrounded; it costs a little health but saves a life.
• Food hidden in barrels and crates restores health – break everything.
